The Allosaurs were carnivores with long, three fingered arms. Most of them had knifelike teeth, perfect for slicing meat. They were lighter than the Tyrannosaurs, but some of them were very heavy. They had a bite weaker than other dinosaurs of that size, but they also had a very special bite called a "hatchet bite". That is when the Allosaur opens its mouth up very wide, around 110 degrees, and then it used its giant neck muscles to push its upper jaw down with tremendous force.
